In this video, we go back to 2001. A very emotional and difficult year for the United States. Before the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, a striking movie called Swordfish was released. Ironically, the plot dealt specifically with the war on terror and John Travolta played Gabriel Shear...a genuine anti-hero. His intentions were good and he was fiercely protective of his country, but his methods were of course questionable.
Constantly blurring the line between right and wrong, Gabriel Shear recruited a world class hacker Stanley Jobson (Hugh Jackman) to assist him. Though Stanley was against Gabriel's actions, he was in it to save his daughter.

The opening and close of the film focuses on a well planned yet complex bank heist, and a coffee shop across the street where Gabriel and law enforcement negotiate his terms. The (2) spots in this video are the locations as they exist today, 16 years later. We've included movie screenshots for comparison. "World Banc" was the Bank of Italy building in Ventura (California) with an elaborate glass and steel facade built around it. The "Travelers Coffee Co." shop was an empty storefront which filmmakers dressed and transformed into a coffee shop. The front of the building has only recently changed and for many years resembled what was shown on film.
